Stumbling blocks are inevitable When trying to make a healthy change.
Whether it’s stress, your favourite drive-thru, or that coworker who always brings donuts…
These obstacles can tempt you to veer off course – or give up on your goal altogether.
So what sets apart those who fall and those who rise?
Preparation.
When you anticipate temptations and create an action plan for when they strike, you’re far more likely to overcome those challenges.
So my tip for this week? Plan ahead.
Make a list of any obstacles that might derail your progress… and notice what triggers your cravings.
Are there any people, places, events, or emotions that make it harder to stick to your healthy lifestyle?
Jot them down now – and plan for how you’ll handle them.
For example…
😫 Does stress or uncomfortable feelings make you numb out with food? Find a healthier way to comfort yourself. Go for a walk, journal, or do some breathing exercises.
👩 Have a friend who brings tempting food to your house? Share your health goals with them and ask for their support.
🧁 Pass your favourite bakery often? Take a different route so you won’t be tempted.
💃 Headed to a party where you know there’ll be tempting food? Bring a healthy dish.
📺 Does watching TV make you reach for the chips? Toss the chips and munch on some veggies and hummus instead.
Obstacles are to be expected.
Preparing for them and having a plan of action to handle them will help you overcome any challenges that come your way.
ACTION STEP: Make a list of any people, places, or things that may interfere with your goals. And plan for how you’ll tackle each challenge when it shows up.
Superfood Spotlight: Pineapple 🍍
Want to boost your immune system? Then eat more pineapple. This sweet, tropical fruit is packed with vitamin C, an antioxidant that fights off free radicals and strengthens your immune system. One cup of pineapple delivers 88% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C.
Pineapple may also improve your digestion. It contains bromelain, an enzyme that helps your body break down protein. It’s also rich in fibre, which helps you feel full and promotes a healthy gut.
Pineapple makes a great standalone snack. (remember to combine it with a low fat protein)
Or add it to your salads or stir-fries for a sweet burst of flavour.
